Queensland Teachers Enterprise Agreement

QTU is working with DoE to determine how eligible new teachers are treated. We will provide more details on this as soon as this is confirmed with DoE, but the Union is working with the department to ensure the security of the members` employment. The government has just approved the agreement in principle for the basic agreement. Whether through allocation, ongoing negotiations or a combination of the two, workers benefit from an increase of at least 2.5% on top of their current rates. Temporary teachers will gradually progress during the 40 weeks they will work, regardless of their employment group. In this way, temporary teachers do not have to work 200 days to increase the pay scale. This amendment will come into effect on January 23, 2020, in accordance with the provisions for part-time permanent teachers. The Palaszczuk government is currently negotiating a series of new collective agreements for the public sector with public sector unions. QTU is developing a series of guidance and information brochures to detail the provisions of agreements, distinctions and legislation that affect the rights and obligations of Queensland teachers. These are being updated after the new agreement has been certified. Look at the full list of brochures available, if there is a vacancy, teachers should be recruited as a priority on a permanent basis. If this is not possible, the department encourages schools to continue their temporary commitments, at least until the end of the first half of 2020, to ensure the continued employment of teachers in the system, due to an imminent shortage of teachers. All provisions of the new agreement are now in force and must be respected.

Negotiations for a replacement contract for the 2015 agreement reviewed by the state (basic agreement) will continue between your agency`s representatives and your union. The list of unions that are parties to the basic agreement is posted here. On 17 January 2020, an agreement in principle was reached with all parties to the trade union negotiations. Teachers who completed two years of service on November 19 (certification date) can now receive an invitation to the perm-time conversion process. Those who have this service and do not have a job for next year should first contact their sponsor and contact the regional staff department.
